What is Studywiz?

Hampshire County Council has chosen Studywiz as the online provider for the Hampshire endorsed Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).  Since introduction, Hampshire have branded their service as ‘Wizkid’ rather than Studywiz, but it is the same product.  Studywiz provides an online space where educational content of all types is collected, organised and managed to create an enriched learning environment and curriculum for students. Studywiz gives teachers a unique tool for elevating instruction through personalised, collaborative and interactive learning and real-time assessment and results, and it supports parental participation in learning.

Access and Software Issues

Teachers will create files within the VLE using Microsoft Office programs- this could cause a problem if students do not have access to this software at home, but guidance is provided below if you do not wish to purchase the complete program.

Not got Microsoft Office at Home? Here are some solutions (the school are not responsible for the content as these are external links)

• POWERPOINT If you haven’t got PowerPoint at home, you can download this FREE tool from Microsoft which lets you look at PowerPoint files, but not make your own. Click here to go to the download site.
• EXCEL The same thing exists for Excel documents too. Just click here to obtain a copy of it for your computer.
• WORD Not got Microsoft Word? Click here and you can download program which will let you open, copy or print Word docs.

Office 2007 Compatibility Issues

If the file has been made in the new version of Word or Excel, and has an extension of .docx or .xlsx you’ll need to click here and download the conversion tool too.

Note: You’ll only need to install these once.

Other ‘Office’ Alternative

There is a complete set of office programs, just like Microsoft Office called ‘Open Office’ (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) but they are available for FREE. They are very similar to the microsoft versions, but have a few differences. You can download and install them by going here.
