We study the AQA (A) Geography course (click here for exam materials)
In year 10 students will prepare for the Physical paper (unit 1) and will take this exam in June. This paper is 1.5 hours and is worth 37.5% of the total GCSE. The topics will include:

The Restless Earth – Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Hurricanes etc.

The Coastal Zone
After the exam in year 10, students will prepare for the coursework/fieldwork paper and will undertake data collection in the local area at the beach and along the seafront at Southsea.
This work is entitled ‘Unit 3: Local Fieldwork Investigation’. This will be a Controlled assessment worth 25% of the total GCSE. There is a maximum word guidance of 2000 written up in 6 hours under direct supervision in school. The candidates’ work will be marked by their class teachers and samples will then be moderated by AQA. We will visit East Head Spit in West Sussex and Southsea to complete our fieldwork for this task.
In year 11, students will prepare for the Human paper ( unit 2 ) and will take this module in June 2011. This paper is 1.5 hours worth 37.5% The topics we will focus on is ‘Tourism’.
