RE at KS4
All students take Religious Studies. Those students who have elected to follow the alternative curriculum provision will undertake an in depth study of Unit 3 over two years culminating in either an entry level or short course GCSE. For those students who require a more challenging curriculum Unit 8 will be studied in Year 10 whilst the rest of the year group study Unit 10. All students study Unit 3 in Year 11.
The Course covers a broad range of religious themes in a Christian context. It places particular emphasis on religious and moral issues and develops a broad array of skills in students. Students study the following:

Unit 3: Religion and life based on a study of Catholic Christianity - Believing in God, Matters of life and death, Marriage and the family, Religion and community cohesion.

Unit 8: Religion and Society based on a study of Christianity and at least one other religion – Rights and responsibilities, Environmental and medical issues, Peace and conflict, Crime and punishment

Unit 10: Roman Catholic Christianity - Beliefs and values, Community and Tradition, Worship and celebration, Living the Christian Life
Assessment
Two end of year papers of 1½ hours each. (One at the end of Year 10 and one at the end of Year 11).
