Award in Information & Digital Applications (AIDA)
We will offer a GCSE equivalent course in Information and Communication Technology. To fulfil the specification students are required to work through a project related to the Study Areas.
The compulsory Core Study Areas are:
- IT User
- Publishing
- Spreadsheet
- Database
- Communications
- Multimedia Presentation or Web Design
There will be two possible levels of entry:
- Level 1 is equivalent to Foundation Tier with grades targeted at C to F.
- Level 2 is equivalent to Higher Tier with grades targeted at A* to D.
Assessment
The scheme of assessment for the course consists of 100% Coursework Component. The Coursework Component is a summative project representing work related to the Study Areas, and is an externally set timed practical task that will enable the student to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding of ICT to solve a problem. The project is based on at least 38 hours work and will be started at the end of Year 10 to be submitted in May Year 11 by means of an electronic portfolio.
